Important Facts to Remember

  • This is a school owned laptop that should only be used for educational purposes.
  • You are borrowing this laptop to help you with your school work.
  • You must sign and adhere to the AUP and Laptop Expectations.
  • If you do not follow the rules, you can lose your privilege of using the laptop.


  • Bring the laptop to school fully charged each day.
  • Carry the laptop in the case provided.
  • Do not share chargers.
  • Each student is responsible for the care of the equipment they are given.

Use It

  • Students need to follow their teacher’s directions regarding laptop use in each of their classes.
  • The laptop can be a great help to student learning, but there will be many times where you won’t use it during a class.
  • Teachers will let students know when and how to use your laptop in a particular class.

Keep it safe

  • Keep your laptop in a safe place.
  • If you need to leave it, be sure it is securely locked up.
  • Be sure your laptop and case are always labeled.

Eat and Drink Later

  • Enjoy food and beverages away from your laptop.
  • It’s too easy to spill something on your laptop.
  • ANY liquid spill can seriously damage the laptop resulting in a very expensive repair for your family.

Winding the Power Adapter

  • It’s important wind the power adapter correctly so it will not break.

Logging Into Your Account

Log into your school laptop using your network account

  • Student login: first initial, last name, two-digit YOG. Ex. jsmith22
  • Password is your student ID # Ex. CC000234
  • Gmail format is

Google Apps

  • Students and staff have Google Drive accounts.
  • Student homework is posted on Google Classroom Calendars for public access.
  • Students have Gmail accounts that are internal only. You cannot email outside the district.

Back It Up

  • Back-up your files. Google Drive provides unlimited storage and you can store ANY type of file in Drive.

  • Back up all of your files to Drive, and consider also backing up other important files to an external hard drive.

Final Do’s & Don’ts

  • Don’t make an changes to the school laptop.
  • Don’t install any software unless asked to by your teacher.
  • Do remember this is not your laptop, it belongs to the school.
  • Do take care of this laptop. You will be issued the same one while at CMS.
  • Do keep the laptop clean and safe.
