SCHOOL COMMITTEE OR SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT SCECH APPLICATION 2015-2016

Applying for State Continuing Education Clock Hours has become even easier! A few things have remained the same, but for the most part, the MDE has worked very hard to streamline the application process.

Committee Chair must submit completed application on or before October 1st

School Committee Meetings & School Improvement Teams (Instructions)

A. Eligibility Criteria:

1. The candidate must attend at least 75% of the scheduled School Committee or School Improvement Meetings, but not less than six (6) meetings per school year. If only six meetings are scheduled, then participants must attend all six meetings.

2. Completion of the on-line SCR/MOECS evaluation form is required within 30 days of receipt of the email notification in order for the MI SCECHs to be awarded. Failure to do this step will forfeit the SCECH credit.

B. Number of Eligible SCECH credits:

1. Twenty-five (25) SCECH credits are available per school year for participants meeting the aforementioned criteria. An applicant cannot earn more than 25 SCECH credits per school year, regardless of the number of different assigned committees or meetings. Partial credit is not allowed.

2. A maximum of 75 SCECHs earned in School Committee and School Improvement in a five-year renewal period can be used toward certificate renewal.

C. Verification:

Each participant will have their own sign in attendance sheet that must be verified and initialed by the chairperson for each meeting. The chairperson will keep all the sign in sheets until the last meeting, and then submit all the participant forms with an agenda for each meeting within five days of the last meeting or before June 1st, whichever comes first. Missing agendas, incomplete forms or late submission of any forms will cause forfeit of SCECH credit.

Partial credit is not allowed by the State; therefore participants will not receive SCECH credit if the required number of meetings are not attended or sign in form is incomplete.
