Midlothian-area elementary school name
In fall 2019, a new Midlothian-area elementary school will open off of Old Hundred Road in northwestern Midlothian. Students primarily are expected to come from three existing elementary schools: Watkins, Evergreen and Swift Creek.
For the purposes of producing signs and establishing a community identity, along with the need to align a school name with a school mascot and school colors, the timing is appropriate to name the new school. School Board Policy 616 states: “The School Board has the prerogative to name all schools, gymnasiums, stadiums, libraries, tracks, fields and other similar school facilities. The School Board welcomes and will seek comments from the public and the school community, as appropriate, regarding the naming of school facilities.”

Consistent with School Board actions naming our most recent new schools for the area in which they are located or for individuals who made significant contributions to the school division, the school division will begin to engage the Midlothian-area community on suggestions for potential names.
