Camp Kesem Central PA 2017-2018 General Body Application
Over 5 million children today in the United States have a parent who has, has had, or has passed away from cancer.  Camp Kesem is a national organization that provides free summer camps for these children.  Started in 2000 at Stanford University, Camp Kesem has over 80 chapters across 38 states.  We aim to provide emotional support for our campers throughout their attendance at camp.

We, Camp Kesem Central PA, as a chapter require our counselors to raise $550 each as personal fundraising.  This money is used to pay for the counselor and a camper to spend 1 week away at summer camp.  While this may seem like a lot, we as an organization can help you think of ideas to raise the money, so don’t be intimidated by this number!

At Camp Kesem we try to separate our campers homelife from their week at camp.  In doing this, we hope to create a safe space where our campers can be the children they are.  One way we do this is by having everyone choose a camp name.  This camp name can be anything (We have camp names ranging from made up words to random nouns.)  What would your camp name be?
Is there anything else you think we should know about you or your desire to volunteer with Camp Kesem? *
