Hi guys! I hope you all are surviving the first few weeks of school so far haha :) If you have some extra time, please volunteer for this event! It's a great cause!
When and Where is the event?
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 11, 2014
Pier 84, 12th Avenue & 44th Street
New York, New York
6:30 AM - 2PM
What are we doing?
Helping sponsors of the event unload and get their materials to their tents! Since cars and trucks can't come on the pier, having teams of helpers unload is a big deal. And then if you want to fundraise afterwards (or just participate in the event) you can walk!
Here's the official website if you guys want to check it out:

Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes is the signature fundraising walk of the American Diabetes Association. Formerly Step Out: Walk to Fight Diabetes and America’s Walk for Diabetes, the event has been taking place for more than 20 years and has raised more than $175,000,000 to find a cure to stop Diabetes!
Diabetes is a disease in which the body does not produce or properly use insulin. Insulin is a hormone that is needed to convert sugar, starches and other food into energy needed for daily life. The cause of diabetes continues to be a mystery, although both genetics and environmental factors appear to play roles.
Diabetes complications are serious, they include the increased risk of heart disease and stroke, nervous system disease and nontraumatic lower-limb amputations, and it is the leading cause of kidney failure.
Diabetes currently affects more than 371 million people worldwide and is expected to affect 552 million by 2030. In the U.S., a new case of diabetes is diagnosed every 30 seconds; more than 1.9 million people are diagnosed each year. So these walks help raise awareness and helps fundraise to find a cure to end diabetes!
