The treble clef, of G clef names the line "G" when placed on the staff. The second line is G. The treble clef is used for the violin, woodwinds, higher brass, and keyboard music.

The alto clef is a C clef because it names "middle C" when placed on the third line of the staff. The alto clef is also called the viola clef because it is used be the viola.
