The C.O.C. fosters partnership with Providence shelters, meal sites, and advocacy groups working in the areas of homelessness or food insecurity, in addition to coordination recovery logistics with FRN@Brown’s Director of Operations. This Eboard member is also expected to promote and plan events that engage FRN reps and the off campus community in working towards shared goals and mutual understanding. The C.O.C. is expected to spend a significant amount of time and effort collaborating with both RIHAP and HOPE.*

Max hours per week: 8 hours Min hours per week: 2 hours

Time and Task Allotment in an Average Week:
01:00 - Eboard meeting and prep, summary notes, updates, presentations
01:00 - Recovery shift(s), the usual, preference for driving shifts at night
01:00 - Communication with partner agencies, attending meetings, networking
00:30 - Operational logistics, planning, emails and meetings
00:30 - Event planning and promotion, community networking, logistics

Best:
Work with the off-campus community, gain insight into homelessness and food insecurity by developing friendships with leaders in the Providence food movement/advocacy world, bring the voice of community partners to campus

Worst:
Dealing with difficult/uncomfortable social situations or people, erratic scheduling

Successful Candidates:
…must be willing to attend weekly off-campus meetings, make themselves available for questions and logistical troubleshooting through email and/or phone. The COC is necessarily a people person and should feel comfortable schmoozing/networking across a variety of community groups and be capable of navigating difficult social situations.
