Gruhn Guitars Scholarship: Unlike many other objects and possessions, a player often forms a very special bond with the instrument they play. While Maybelle Carter used her 1928 Gibson L-5 throughout her career and Willie Nelson has played his 1968 Martin N-20 classical guitar since he purchased it new, other musicians trade or collect many instruments to create unique sounds, inspire their songwriting, or to explore new musical styles. For this scholarship, we’d like you to write a full page about your relationship with your guitar or bass and why the instrument is special to you as a player. As an alternative, if you don’t yet own the instrument (or instruments) of your dreams, tell us what it would be and why it would inspire you to play music for many years to come. *
Put N/A if you are applying for another scholarship.
