Brandeis Big Siblings Volunteer Application

Brandeis Big Siblings partners with Jewish Big Brother Big Sister’s Mentoring Programs to match Brandeis volunteers with children in need to form a one-on-one mentoring relationship. As a volunteer, you have the opportunity to select which of our three programs you are interested in joining:
(1) Stanley School Lunch Program
(2) Plympton School Lunch Program
(3) Brandeis Campus-Based Program
Descriptions of all programs are provided below. No matter which program you elect to join, we will be a resource for you. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to email us at brandeisbigsibs.wg@gmail.com.

(1) Stanley School Lunch Program
This program matches volunteers with a student in the Stanley Elementary School to meet and eat lunch for one hour a week between the hours of 11:00am and 2:00 pm. The school is about a 5-minute walk from Brandeis’ campus (it is located on South Street) and volunteering requires your ability to get there.

(2) Plympton School Lunch Program
This program operates almost identically to the Stanley School Lunch Program. The program matches volunteers with a student in the Plympton Elementary School to meet and eat lunch for one hour a week between the hours of 11:00am and 2:00 pm. Applicants who wish to volunteer with this program will need to have a car and provide themselves with transportation to and from Plympton Elemntary School.

(3) Brandeis Campus-Based Program
This program matches volunteers with a child in the Waltham community. The expectation is that you meet with your little sibling twice a month for two hours. Little siblings will be dropped off at Brandeis by their guardian and you will be able to use the Brandeis Campus’ many facilities for your activities. For example, you can play board games, instruments, and sports, as well as reading, walking around campus, playing cards, attending campus events, and grabbing something to eat. Many enjoy the flexibility of the program, as you choose which day and time to meet.

All programs require a minimum of a one-year commitment and involve a required monthly check in with a JBBBS Social Worker.
