To: All Interested Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists in New EnglandFr: Jane Fleishman, Ph.D., M.Ed., C.S.E, Sexuality Educator & AASECT Eastern Region RepresentativeRe: 2017-18 AASECT Northeast Education Program
The Eastern Region Section of AASECT consists of a highly committed group of sexuality educators, counselors, and therapists. This year, we will continue to come together from all over the northeast part of the Eastern Region for networking, education and professional development for the Annual AASECT Northeast Region Meet and Greet Education and Networking Program.
The events this year will be on Sept. 12, Jan. 9, and May 8 and will be held in Northampton, MA from 11 am to 1:30 pm. There is a formal presentation at each meeting featuring outstanding educators, clinicians and authors from across the region. The workshops are from 11 am – 12 noon with an interactive working lunch from 12 noon -- 1:30 pm. All workshops are held in a beautiful private room at the Florence Civic Center, 90 Park Street, in the Florence village section of Northampton. This is our second year of events after a wonderfully successful first year. • In September, we will host the wonderful Tammy Nelson, who will discuss erotic recovery after infidelity. • In January, we will host a bodyworker and counselor, Tumbarello, who works with couples and touch. • In May, we will present Samantha Manewitz to talk about assessing healthy and abusive dynamics in kink/BDSM relationships using a Gottman model.
The 2017 national AASECT conference celebrated our 50th year and was held June 15-18 in Las Vegas. The theme was “Honoring our Past, Celebrating our Present, Envisioning our Future” and it was a powerful event. If you're interested in joining AASECT, membership information is online at www.aasect.org. Our AASECT events are for members only and the workshops are a privilege of membership but we are inviting anyone to attend. Non-members are invited to attend one event before joining AASECT. The workshops in 2017-18 are complimentary. The cost of lunch is $45 for a wonderful locally-sourced meal. Payment for lunch is a check made payable to Jane Fleishman and sent to her at 16 Munroe St., Northampton, in advance. We also take google cash. Parking is free.
The program is off to a great start and promises to continue to be an outstanding series of workshops on a broad variety of topics. Each workshop qualifies for 1 AASECT CE. Hope to see you there! To register, please click here or write me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
