The IAN is a statewide organization with the mission to ensure that Idaho’s youth have access to high-quality out-of-school programs. The Summit is Idaho's only statewide gathering dedicated solely to out-of-school providers. Breakout workshops offer a wide array of training for out-of-school providers to improve the practices and outcomes of their work. Majority of our breakout sessions will be offered 9/13/2017. STEM breakouts will be offered on 9/14/2017.
Breakouts should be targeted to address the following focus areas:
1. Youth Development - Understanding the typical benchmarks for youth development, including cultural differences and diverse abilities.2. Learning Environments & Curriculum - providing social interactions, stimulating physical environments and enriching intellectual opportunities.3. Youth Engagement & Interactions - recognizing the value of relationship building, supporting child- and youth-led efforts, creating partnerships and providing formal and informal mentoring for children and youth to develop voice, choice and leadership.4. Family, School and Community Relationships - partnering with families, schools and communities to build ongoing, interactive communications that enhance the quality of out-of-school and youth services.5. Safety, Health & Wellness - implementing a broad array of prevention, preparedness and health and safety practices.6. Program Planning, Development & Leadership - understanding planning, organizing and implementing best business practices for out-of-school programs.7. STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) - Get educators and youth excited about STEM topics and activties! STEM breakouts will be the morning of 9/14/2017.
Breakouts will be selected that most effectively address the conference mission of providing practical training for out-of-school providers. Breakouts should be clear, interactive and include strategies that participants will be able to implement immediately following the conference.
