1. WHAT IS THIS?
2
VC Finder is a tool to help founders form their fundraising strategy, starting with a focus on firms with a New York office. The goal of this spreadsheet is to answer questions like,

> What investors focus on my sector and stage?
> Who invests in my city?
> What is their typical check size?
> Who else have they invested in?

This information has been opaque and hard to find for too long. Founder time is precious and shouldn't be wasted pitching investors that have a low probability of investing.
For investors, we also hope this product can both serve as a source of record for other firms to collaborate with, and lead to higher quality deal flow.

2. WHO IS IT FOR?
5
FOR FOUNDERS...FOR INVESTORS...
6
We created a default set of Filter Views to help founders filter investors by sector.
1) Go to the Investors tab
2) Click the down arrow next to the filter icon at the top right of the spreadsheet
3) Select a sector to filter for (e.g., cybersecurity or infrastructure), OR Cmd+F to search for arbitrary text
4) If you have feedback, features to request, or just want to say watsup, ping me at morgan@bloombergbeta.com
We did our best to gather accurate information, and recognize you may want to edit your profile. To submit a new entry, please visit tiny.cc/vc-finderform to add data via Google Forms. To edit an existing entry, email morgan@bloombergbeta.com to request access to edit.

3. WHO MADE IT?
9
Acknowledgements: VC Finder was incubated at Bloomberg Beta, and then built by Morgan Polotan @ Bloomberg Beta, Jason Raziano @ 14W, Dimitris Kouvaros @ Newark Venture Partners, Courtney Nelson @ BDMI, and Jason Black @ RRE Ventures, and Sumeet Shah @ Brand Foundry.

At Beta we value transparency (because transparent markets work best, and transparency breeds trust). We see founders as our customers, so this is an effort to make their lives easier.

A shout-out to other projects looking to make the venture world more transparent -- Shai Goldman of SVB Capital and his work tracking new sub-$200m venture funds raised since 2011.

DATA SOURCES
12
The data in this sheet was gleaned from a combination of public (i.e., venture websites) and private (i.e., conversations with investors) sources. All errors are ours, and there are likely many.

FUTURE PLANS
15
We plan to add other geographies if the community of founders finds this useful.
