"Black Folks" Day on the Hill
To commemorate Black History Month and the continuous work to protect our communities, Sister Reach and Black Lives Matter Memphis, in collaboration with state-wide coalition partners, are taking on the Tennessee State Capitol.

Join us for our first “Black Folks Day on the Hill” Tuesday, February 21, 2017. “Black Folks Day of the Hill” is an opportunity for organizations and supporters, who are doing direct work and advocacy around policies impacting the black community, to talk with legislators about our stance on these issues. With the proposed legislation of the new administration, our communities are at great risk of being further abused, underfunded, and marginalized.

During our visit, we will meet with key legislators on issues of reproductive justice, economic justice, criminal justice, and education. Our legislators, who have a direct vote on legislation most critical to our communities, need to hear from us on how to best protect our communities. We will also have a lobbying training and fellowship opportunities with supporters across the state.

This is a free opportunity. There will be transportation options for supporters in all major cities in Tennessee. If you are interested in being a part of this historic opportunity, please contact London Lamar at london@sisterreach.org or Erica Perry at eperry89@gmail.com.
