In the tradition of TED Talks, the Dragon Parents presents some of O’Dowd’s esteemed faculty to share their passion for teaching. In one evening, you’ll gain an insiders perspective and a better appreciation about what’s really happening in the classrooms and performance spaces at school.
The evening kicks off at 6:30 p.m. with a welcome reception hosted by the Dragon Parents. Then you’ll enjoy a series of short presentations, demonstrations and performances that are sure to inspire! The program includes:
-
Trina Oliver's students, performing a comedic sketch, "Unity Act" NOT YET CONFIRMED
-
Thien Pham and Briana Loewinsohn taking us through an interactive, hands-on art exercise
-
Juan Carlos Trujillo, Math Teacher, Math Department Chairperson
-
Jon Thorpe, History Teacher: "The 20th Century's Dirtiest Word;" The subject of the brief lecture will be "appeasement,"
the British policy of accommodating Hitler in 1938. Generally viewed as one of the worst decisions of the 20th century, this talk will turn this on the head and explain why Chamberlain's policy of appeasement was the necessary and correct policy for the UK to follow.
- Mark Lederer, Director of Health and Wellness
