Volunteering with Bicycle Coalition Youth Cycling
Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the Bicycle Coalition’s Youth Cycling program! Volunteering is a fantastic way to expand our capacity and allow us to provide more high quality opportunities to Philadelphia youth through cycling. Coach a high school team – Clearances required
Support the development of a team of new youth cyclists as a fellow rider, traffic marshal, and mentor. During the Spring 2017 Spring cycling season we will have 7 sites across the city. Select one site that you can commit to practicing with once or twice a week during the designated after school hours March 12th-June 7th. Please use the "other" box to share any additional schedule restrictions etc.
The Sites that still need volunteers are:
MultiCultural Academy Charter, Tuesday and Wednesdays, 3:30pm-5:30pm
Shoemaker Mastery, Tuesday and Thursdays, 4:00pm-6:00pm
Science Leadership Academy Beeber, Tuesday and Thursdays, 3:15pm-5:15pm
Saul High School, Mondays and Wednesday, 3:15pm-5:15pm - Mountain Bike Team!!
Race and event day support – One Time – No clearances required
Join us for one of our all site spring events or races! Volunteer tasks will be assigned day of and include: serving lunch, traffic marshaling, taking photos, racer prep, cheering etc. Our Spring events are : April 14th, May 5th, and June 2nd.

April 14th (We need up to 15 volunteers to staff FUN DAY checkpoints in Fairmount park!)
May 5th (Time Trial on MLK Drive)
June 2rd (BCYC Crit race)
Provide Lunch for a Race Day or Event – One Time – No clearances required
This one is great to take on as a team! Pack and serve a picnic lunch for around 75 hungry athletes during one of our spring event and race days. Staff support and limited financial reimbursement available upon request for this task. Our events are April 14th, May 5th, and June 2nd.
Which date(s) are you able to cater lunch?
Tutoring Middle and High school Athletes – Ongoing – Clearances required
Work with one of our All Star youth in a subject or project they are struggling with in school. Tutoring sessions are 1.5-2 hours twice a month at the bicycle coalition office, based on student availability. If you select this option, please note subjects you are able to provide tutoring in.

Bike and equipment sorting – Ongoing – No clearances required
Lend a hand at our storage unit – sorting kit, repairing bikes, labeling donation bins, etc. Once we have enough volunteers signed up in this area, we will coordinate a work day.
