In order to encourage young adults to become more involved in the management, preservation, and stewardship of the Appalachian Trail (AT); the Appalachian Trail Conservancy (ATC) created NextGen to explore effective methods for advising and engaging their generation in trail advocacy and protection. This is an opportunity to bring fresh perspectives and diverse voices to the A.T. management structure, and to help ensure that the People's Path will have strong advocates for the Trail's protection for centuries to come.
What does it consist of?○ Advisory Council members participate in quarterly calls. ○ Advisory Council members meet annually for one face-to-face meeting and are encouraged to participate in ATC management and advocacy meetings (Regional Partnership Meetings, Stewardship Council, Board, Hike the Hill, and other regional events as they arise).

This is not a paid position, though ATC will cover travel related expenses.
