Bird Banding Club WAITLIST 2018

Club is currently full for 2018. Please join our WAITLIST if you are still interested in joining, but do NOT submit payment at this time. If a spot becomes available, we will let you know to submit payment at that time. We do give preference to returning Club members, so please also consider that when you submit your application.

What?
Join Federally-licensed bird bander, Dr. Oakleigh Thorne, II and Gwen Tenney, Thorne’s Programs Coordinator, to experience the art and science of bird banding. Participants will work collaboratively with one another, gaining skills and hands-on experience in field identification and bird banding methods. Together, participants will practice to become expert bird banders using a combination of mist nets and solenoid traps to catch resident and migratory birds. Participants will learn to handle, properly identify, band, and record scientific information to be sent to the Federal Bird Banding Laboratory.
Who?
Youth in Grades 7 and higher (exceptions are sometimes made depending on spots remaining)
When?
Eight Tuesdays from February to May from 4:00-5:30 pm
- Feb 13
- Feb 27
- March 13
- (Skip a session because of Spring Break)
- April 3
- April 17
- May 1
- May 8 (added because of the skipped Spring Break week)
- May 15
Where?
Sombrero Marsh Environmental Education Center, 1466 N. 63rd Street, Boulder, CO
Tuition
$125 for all sessions (Scholarships are available. Please email Gwen@thornenature.org for details, if needed.)
Prerequisite
Previous participation in the Bird Banding Summer Camp Experience or Club is required.
Registration Process
Club registration is first come, first served with preference for returning Club members. The club will fill fast with a maximum of 12 students. Email Gwen@ThorneNature.org with questions.
