AFAC March Trip 2017
Waioeka River March 18th & 19th 2017
The Waioeka River offers exciting fishing for all levels
The middle reaches of the Waioeka River provide ideal trout habitat and are easy to access. The water is generally very clear though sometimes has a tinge of colour from the surrounding vegetation. The river here is a sequence of rebels, glides and deep pools flowing between well vegetation banks. Its bed is a mixture of shingle and stone with plenty of open spaces for the angler. The trout population is high and despite its proximity to a major highway, anglers will still find plenty of opportunity to fish in solitude. We will be staying at the Wairata Station ( www.wairatastation.com ), which offers accommodation
ranging from rural comfortable to rustic basic for up to 14 people. Running through or bordering
Wairata Station is at least 14 kilometres of the Waioeka River and the Opato Stream.
The Station offers very good facilities and friendly service.
Places are definitely limited so it is first in first served but we will keep a
reserve list.
The costs are for you to arrive the Friday night and stay the Friday 17th and Saturday 18th nights
As usual we will provide cooked breakfasts on the Saturday and Sunday
and Dinner Saturday night.
