Safeguarding the Future of Highdown Gardens
Worthing Borough Council is developing a plan to protect the plant heritage at Highdown Gardens and safeguard its future. To support this plan financially, we will be submitting a bid to the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) in autumn 2017.

In summer 2016 we held another public consultation to gauge the appetite for a Visitor Centre. The public response was positive but we were unsuccessful with a HLF bid at the end of last year. The Council have received encouragement from HLF to re-apply with a clearer focus on the need for the project and the risk to plant heritage.

Highdown Gardens is a special place. Not only is this a tranquil garden, it houses the National Plant Collection of introductions by Sir Frederick Stern, a historic collection of plants growing on chalk. To safeguard the Gardens and the legacy provided by Sir Frederick Stern, the Council is aiming to collate as many views as possible by means of this survey.

The survey should only take 5 - 10 minutes of your time; please help us by inviting your friends to complete it.

Thank you for your participation.
