350.org Training for Trainers - Berlin, Germany

*As we still have a few remaining places on this training for participants, we are keeping the application process open and will be reviewing applications daily until all places are filled, so we encourage you to apply as soon as possible!* 350.org is an international climate campaigns organisation that works on building a grassroots climate movement across the planet. As part of our movement building efforts, 350 is organising a 'Training for Trainers' (T4T) for 6 select young people across Germany from late evening on 13th September - late afternoon 16th September, 2012 in Berlin. This event will be a chance for a team of 6 motivated, inspirational, and passionate climate leaders to help bring the climate movement to a whole new level. Those who take part in the 3.5 day gathering will be equipped to go and run their own workshops across the country, supporting organisers, and groups to gain the skills to do their work even better, as well as helping to build new local groups. At the event we will learn about and practise movement building, campaign skills and strategies. And we will share and explore important skills such as storytelling, leadership, facilitation, and building strong teams. We welcome a diversity of applications with and from different backgrounds, experiences, communities and personalities. You may consider yourself an activist, an organiser, a teacher, a trainer already or something completely different, however, to be selected, you will need to be: - passionate about social justice issues - have a desire to help other activists/leaders and organisers with the work that they are doing or want to do as part of the climate movement - have a good level of understanding and communicating both English and German to receive the training (conducted in a mixture of both languages) and to share the training further. - committed to living in Germany for at least the next 12 months. 350.org offers the training free of cost but sets a few expectations from participants. The climate movement urgently needs more leaders from around Germany and the aim of the workshop is to not only identify and train those very leaders but for them to spread their skills and support other leaders who cannot join us in Berlin. We expect the participants to deliver a similar training to local leaders from their own regions at least by the end of the year 2012 while remaining committed overall for 6 months after the training to help deliver the following stages of T4T across Germany. As part of this, we would expect you to continue engaging with the network in a mutually beneficial way to strengthen the environmental movement in the country and for this, we encourage participants to set up 350 local groups (more on this can be found at local.350.org). As said above, the training will be conducted in a mixture of German and English by 350.org and accommodation, food, will all be covered. We may also be able to support travel costs if selected participants are unable to cover this. Please fill out this form carefully. The final selection of the applicants will be based mainly on this form, although we may also wish to speak to you on the phone to make a final decision. The deadline for filling in this application form is open until we have filled all of the places. For any queries regarding the form or the training, please write to emma@350.org. Apart from that, all we need is you. So if you feel ready to help step up this fight to overcome the climate crisis, then please apply here! We look forward to hearing from you.
