Google Docs Known Issues

We're always working to resolve problems that pop up on Docs. If your problem is listed below, we're aware of the issue and are working to fix it as soon as possible. To see more information on an issue, just click "View Details & Report." Clicking the "Report it" button will save you the time of sending us an email but will ensure that we're notified about your issue.

Drawings don't appear on drawing canvas while using Chrome dev build

The Chrome team is aware of the issue and working on a fix. Bug report at http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=21174 In the meantime, you can work around the issue by using any other supported browser (including the non-dev version of the Chrome browser).

Documents emailed in are not appearing in docs list

We're aware of an issue with the email-in functionality where users are receiving an email indicating that their docs have been successfully uploaded, however, the docs do not appear in the docs list. Users are finding they can open the document from the email confirmation, but are unable to locate the doc in the docs list. As a workaround in the meantime, please upload docs individually through the web interface as we work on a resolution.

Document fails to load

The latest version of Safari (3.0.4) for Leopard sometimes fails when loading a document. Betas of Safari work fine. We are investigating. Any information would be welcome. If you are having trouble loading a document and do not use the latest version of Safari, try clearing your cache and cookies. This often corrects the problem.

Account verification issue

We're aware of an issue where after verifying a Google Account, users are still receiving the message that their account is not verified. We understand that in some cases, after some time, this message stops appearing and users can access their docs. However, we're looking into resolving this issue so that this message doesn't appear.

Size of drawings are reduced when exporting

This currently only affects exports to OpenOffice, RTF and Word.

We're aware of an issue where users are receiving the error message 'Error: We have encountered an error, which we will investigate immediately. Sorry for the inconvenience.' when trying to share a document.

'You have exceeded your sharing quota' errors

Some users have been getting 'You have exceeded your sharing quota' errors when sharing spreadsheets. We are working on resolving this issue. In the mean time, please try the following workarounds: Share your document with 'Anyone in the world' (or 'Anyone in the domain' for Google Apps users) and send them the link in an email. Go to 'Share - Get the link' to select this setting; Copy the URL of your doc from your browser's address bar and paste it into an email; Send this email to your recipients using your email provider.

Formulas, cut, copy and paste don't respond after inserting a drawing

We're working on a fix. In the meantime, refreshing your browser will resolve the issue.

'Show analysis' in spreadsheet connected to form shows deleted responses

Deleted form submissions, for example, test entries, are still shown when you click on 'Show analysis' in spreadsheet connected to a form.

Formula calculation on export

On export some formulas will not show the correct calculations. To fix this, just go to the specific cell double-click and hit enter.

Updates to spreadsheets using forms

If you have your forms results published in a website, note that changes to the actual spreadsheet won't be reflected in the published version of that spreadsheet.

Forms in Emails

Currently forms are not supported by the following email clients: Hotmail, Thunderbird, Mac and certain versions of Outlook. Data entered directly into the form in the email may be incorrect. Instead, click on the link in the email to fill out a form.

If formulas point to cells with no content, spreadsheets will not import.

Commonly reported issues in Google Presentations:

Images blocked by filter and not displaying in presentations

In order to keep your Google Groups filter intact while specifically allowing ONLY the specific URL below, we can recommend a filter setting similar to the following, which may differ depending on your particular firewall and/or filtering software: "block *.googlegroups.com EXCEPT blob-s-docs.googlegroups.com"

'No text converter installed for the file type' error message

This can occur if your internet connection is interrupted during exporting. Double-check that your connection is stable prior to re-exporting, particularly if you're using a wireless connection.

We're aware of and working to resolve an issue where some users are unable to delete folders and docs.

Actions not "sticking" in Docs list

Some actions, such as starring docs, moving docs between folders, and emptying the trash, are either not sticking or take a few minutes to complete. We're aware of these issues and we're working to fix them as soon as possible. In the meantime, you may want to try just doing one document at a time. That seems to help in these cases.

Spreadsheets not appearing in Docs list - "Sorry! We are experiencing technical difficulties and cannot show all of your documents" error message

We're working on a fix. In the meantime, you should be able to access your spreadsheets by using the Docs list search box.

Loading error in Docs list

We're aware that some people are still experiencing this problem. If you're able to first copy and paste or export any offline edits that haven't synced, you may want to uninstall Gears, restart your computer, then re-install Gears. This sometimes fixes this problem. Please only uninstall Gears after saving any changes you made offline.

404 error when opening PDFs on mobile phones

We've had reports of error messages when trying to open PDFs from mobile phones. We're aware of this issue and working to resolve it quickly.

50 Folders

The Docs list only shows the first 50 folders. Click on "All folders' to see additional folders.
