| 2024 SUMMER FINANCIAL AID RELEASE OF EXCESS FUNDS SCHEDULE
| Please note: Students who fail to complete all financial aid processes by the beginning of the academic term should plan to bring sufficient funds to cover tuition, fees, books and supplies, as well as living expenses for at least one month.
| SUMMER 2024 RELEASE OF EXCESS FUNDS DATES
| GRANTS/SCHOLARSHIPS/LOANS: | Disbursement Dates
| First 5wk Summer Session Only (5/28/24 – 6/28/24) | 6/14/2024
| 10 Week Summer Courses (5/28/24 – 8/02/24) | 6/14/2024
| Second 5wk Summer Session Only (7/1/24 – 8/02/24) | 7/19/2024
| Combined Sessions Equaling 10 Weeks (5/28/24 – 8/02/24) | 6/14/2024
| PELL FUNDING: Remember that for Pell Grant funds the start date determines when these funds are disbursed onto the student's account. An example would be: if a student has one 3 credit course that starts in the first 5 weeks and then another 3 credit course that starts in the second 5 weeks for a total of 6 credit hours, only the courses that have started will have funds disbursed onto the student's account. Then excess funds will be paid on the 6/14/24 date for the first 3 credits that have started. The second 3 credits worth of excess funding will then be paid on 7/19/24 if the course has started by that date.
| LOAN BORROWERS: All Federal Loan borrowers must be enrolled in at least six credit hours, have a valid Master Promissory Note (MPN), and must have completed Loan Entrance Counseling, both of which can be completed at https://studentaid.gov (you will need to log in, and look under "Quick Links" you'll see Entrance Counseling and the Master Promissory Note "MPN"). You must complete both processes before any loan funds can be released.
| RETURN OF TITLE IV FUNDS: Students who receive federal Title IV aid assistance (Pell Grant, SEOG Grant and Direct Loans) and who cease attending classes or officially withdraw from classes at CWC may be required to repay a portion of the federal aid they received. The student earns his or her aid based on the period of time he or she remains enrolled. During the first 60 percent of the enrollment period for which assistance was awarded, a student is entitled to retain a percentage of their grant or loan assistance directly proportional to the percentage of the period of enrollment that was completed. If the day the student ceases to attend classes or officially withdraws occurs after the student has completed 60 percent of the enrollment period, the student is entitled to retain 100 percent of their grant or loan assistance awarded for the enrollment period. Please see the Financial Aid Office or the CWC Catalog for more detailed information.

| PAYMENT PROCEDURE | |||||||||||||
| Students are expected to pay all tuition and fees at the Cashier’s Office or make arrangements for a payment plan in the Business Office at the time of registration. Payments may also be made on-line with a credit card by logging into myCENTRAL; clicking on myAdvisor; Students; and then Make a Payment. The payment deadline for early registration is Friday, May 27, 2022. Students who have not paid all tuition and fees or have not filed a payment plan may be removed from all classes. Students who have received notification of funding such as grants, loans, or scholarships sufficient enough to cover all education costs are exempt from payment deadline requirements, but must have filed a payment plan in the Business Office by the above deadline. Late payments are assessed at the rate of $20 per month.
| REFUND PROCEDURE | |||||||||||||
| Students who have complied with established policies and procedures may be entitled to a refund of tuition and fees for credit classes from which they have withdrawn based upon the date of receipt of the appropriate forms in the Registration and Records Office.
| Full tuition and fees will be refunded for all classes that students withdraw from prior to the time the class starts. After the class starts, there will be no refund of tuition and fees for classes that meet less than 14 calendar days. Refunds for these short courses must be requested prior to the close of business before the class begins; this will normally be 4 p.m. the day before the class begins or 4 p.m. the day the class begins, if the class begins after 4 p.m. For semester length classes and classes that meet over a period greater than 14 days, there will be a full refund of tuition and fees during the first 12 percent of class. This 12 percent date for refunds is printed for each course in the Schedule of Classes each semester.
| Refunds are applicable for full-time students only when course drops result in a student credit load below full-time (12 credits). Refunds will be processed in a reasonable time period. No refunds will be processed for students who do not officially withdraw through the Registration and Records Office or online at www.cwc.edu. Any money due the college will be withheld before refunds are made.
| Students may petition for an exception to the refund policies in extenuating circumstances by submitting a refund petition to the Records office. The Vice-President of Administrative Services will act on the petitions, return them to the Records office, and the student will be notified of the results.
| For students who have received scholarships, grants, or Title IV aid, all or a portion of the refund may be returned to the funding source. When students petition for refunds after the 12 percent date and refunds are approved, the refund will be considered for tuition only, not general or course fees.
| Students enrolled in classes at the CWC centers in Dubois, Jackson, Lander, and at other outreach sites should check with the center coordinator or their faculty members about local deadlines and procedures.
| The college reserves the right to withhold normal services to students until all financial obligations to the college are fulfilled.
| WITHDRAWAL FROM CLASSES
| If the student does not plan to attend the classes for which he/she has registered, it is the student’s responsibility to withdraw from those classes by the published last day to withdraw from semester length classes or the day before the last day of the class for non-semester length classes. Students failing to withdraw by the above described dates are subject to failing grades and payment of all tuition and fees for the semester. The student should contact their Success Coach, Faculty Advisor, or a member of the Rustler Central staff for assistance in withdrawing.
| ALTERNATE GRADING OPTIONS
| Audit Option Students may request a change from a letter grade to an Audit up to the 12% date (census date) for a course. A completed Alternate Grading Option form must be submitted to the Student Records Office by the deadline in order for the desired grading change to take effect. After the 12% date, the student must petition the Financial Aid office to change to an Audit. In the event that the Audit would result in funding being paid back to an outside source, the petition would be denied. Students may also request a change from Audit to a letter grade by submitting a letter of recommendation from the course instructor to the Student Records Office by the published last day to withdraw from semester length courses or prior to the published last class day for non-semester length courses.
| S/U Grade Option Students may request a change from a letter grade to S/U option by the published last day to withdraw from semester length courses or prior to the published last class day for non-semester length courses. A completed Alternate Grading Option form must be submitted to the Student Records Office by the deadline in order for the desired grading change to take effect. Students may also request a change from S/U to a letter grade by submitting a letter of recommendation from the course instructor to the Student Records Office by the published last day to withdraw from semester length courses or prior to the published last class day for non-semester length courses.
| Students may not use S/U for general education or program requirements unless the course is offered as S/U only.
| PLACEMENT TESTING | |||||||||||||
| Students who are not placed into college-level coursework via ACT scores or previously earned college credit should take the ALEKS exam for placement. ALEKS offers an initial non-proctored assessment that can be completed at home, and Prep and Learning Modules to gain and refresh knowledge.
| Students must discuss scores with their adviser to ensure proper placement has been met. Proctored placement test scores must be received and entered in the student file prior to course registration.
| Math Placement for CWC can be determined by:
| - Math ACT score (within the past 2 years) OR
| - Score on a PROCTORED ALEKS Math Assessment OR
| - Previously earned college credit (Subject to evaluation by the Office of the Registrar)
| ||||||||||||||
| Placement Score Chart can be found on the CWC Website at: | Testing Center Information: Placement Score Charts
| ||||||||||||||
| Students who do not have placement scores for English must consult their adviser and register for both ENGL-1007/ENGL-1010. Placement at that point will be based on the instructors recommendation. ACT Placement Scores for English are as follows: ACT score of 18 will place a student into ENGL 1010, if a student ACT score is 17 or lower they will be placed into ENGL-1007/ENGL-1010.
| USING PLACEMENT TEST RESULTS
| The table above shows course placement requirements based on ALEKS, and ACT scores. If a student has taken more than one test or the same test more than once, the highest score is used for placement. Students who need assistance with determining course placement should consult their adviser.
| NOTE: Math Courses offered in Riverton may vary from Math Courses offered at off campus locations.
