On March 20, 2020, the U.S. Department of State ("DOS") indefinitely suspended routine nonimmigrant and immigrant U.S. visa services at all U.S. Embassies and Consulates worldwide in response to the global COVID-19 pandemic. This suspension impacts individuals outside the United States seeking to apply for a U.S. visa at a consular post. On July 20, 2020, the DOS announced the phased-in reopening of consular posts on a post-by-post basis, subject to local conditions, staffing capacity, and other considerations.

ArgentinaBuenos AiresU.S. Embassy in Argentina resumed limited routine nonimmigrant visa appointments beginning December 1, 2021

An applicant may apply at any U.S. Consulate abroad. However, it may be more difficult to qualify for the visa when applying outside one’s own country of permanent residence. You are expected to demonstrate strong ties to your country of residence which support your intention to return home after a temporary visit to the US. Therefore, applicants are advised to apply in their own country of permanent residence where they can more easily demonstrate these required ties.
Immigrant visa interview appointments are continuing as scheduled. If you are unable to attend your interview, please go to the appointment scheduling system and select “I cannot attend my appointment” (K1 applicants should select “reschedule appointment”) under the “group actions” button. You will be able to reschedule your appointment for a later date. If no appointments are available, please continue to check the system. We will add more appointments as our capacity allows.

If you are an immigrant visa applicant whose interview appointment we canceled in March or April 2020, and you have not heard from us yet, please contact us at buenosaires-IV@state.go

IrelandDublinThe COVID-19 Pandemic continues to affect Embassy Dublin visa operations. Our visa operations remain limited and wait times for appointments and processing times are longer than normal.

The Embassy’s first priority is the health and safety of our customers and staff. COVID-19 mitigation efforts require us to allow physical distancing in our small waiting room, which limits the number of appointments we can offer and the Consular Section serves both American citizens and visa applicants.

We hope this explains the limited services Embassy Dublin’s Consular Section can offer at this time.
