This is the launch event for New York Times bestselling author Andrew Maraniss’s book on the first U.S. Women’s Olympic Basketball Team in 1976. Basketball Hall of Famer Ann Meyers Drysdale, who played on that team, will join the conversation.

10:15-11:15 – “In These Girls, Hope Is a Muscle”
Pulitzer-Prize-winning journalist Madeleine Blais wrote this classic about the 1992-93 Amherst Regional Hurricanes, a high school team that became a phenomenon. The book is on Sports Illustrated’s list of the 100 best sports books of all time. Blais will be joined in the conversation by the team’s former coach, Ron Moyer, and by three of the former players, Rita Powell, Kristin Marvin, and Emily Jones.

Basketball Hall of Famers Tamika Catchings and Tina Thompson will participate in a far-ranging conversation about all things women’s basketball. These are two of the all-time greatest players of the WNBA. Both have amazing social justice stories.
