Students who need WRT 1050 and who have not brought in AP credits will need to take one course during a summer semester (see Summer term between semesters four and five). Up to 3 additional courses may be taken during the winter or summer semester to complete content prior to Semesters 10 and 11 of the STEP program.

Only students who have completed the requirements for a history major may be certified by Oakland University to teach social studies at the secondary level. Generally, a cumulative grade point average of 3.00 is required in the endorsement, with no single grade below C.

A minimum GPA of 2.8 overall and 3.0 in major and minor is required to apply to the Secondary Teacher Education Program (STEP). Acceptance is not guaranteed.
