3.0 GPA required in PSY 1000, PSY 2500, and PSY 2510 and Overall GPA of 3.2 is needed to apply to program.

PSY 2510 requires a prerequisite of both PSY 2500 and competency in intermediate algebra. Competency is demonstrated by completing MTH 0662 (Intermediate Algebra), having an ACT math score of 22 or higher,

having an SAT math score of 520 (old) or higher or 540 (new) or higher, or taking the math placement exam and achieving a level “R” through the Mathematics and Statistics department.

Students should plan to complete the math prerequisites as soon as possible if placement is at or below the MTH 0662 level.

Students are required to take one course in four of the five upper division psychology specialty categories: Evolutionary & Comparative; Cognition, Perception, & Biological; Developmental; Social Personality; Behavioral Health; see catalog for options

Coursework more than 10 years old is not automatically accepted for credit toward the major. The department reserves the right to review such courses before accepting them for credit toward the major

Complete the requirements for a major offered by the College of Arts and Sciences with a cumulative grade-point average of at least 2.00.

CAS Exploratory Requirement

In addition to satisfying the university-wide general education requirements, all students with majors in the College of Arts and Sciences are required to complete at least three courses outside of their major rubric, for a minimum of 12 credits.

A student may select these courses from either of the following: A single rubric of their choosing (e.g., HST) within the College of Arts and Sciences. A predefined thematic set of courses identified on the College of Arts and Sciences website.
