NCBA Hall of Fame Nomination
REQUIREMENTS FOR NOMINATION
1. Current member of NCMEA/MENC (unless deceased or retired).
2. Service as an active band director in music education in the North Carolina Public or private schools for a period of not less than ten years.
3. Demonstrates excellence in the teaching of music.
4. Has made significant contributions to the improvement of music education and the betterment of the profession. Please include positions of leadership on district, state and national levels.
5. Fulfillment of the highest ideals and professional integrity during the time of service.
6. Consistent maintenance of a well-balanced band program.
7. Active participation in various activities of the association.
8. Consistently high contest/festival scores an important consideration but not a requirement.
9. Must be fully retired from service but can be currently working.

PROCEDURE FOR ELECTION TO THE HALL OF FAME
1. Any active or retired member may nominate a person.
2. The chairperson of the Hall of Fame Committee is the President-Elect of the NCBA. The Hall of Fame Committee is the Board of Directors of NCBA.
3. Nominations will be accepted online or via mail through July 1st of each calendar year.
4. The Chairman of the Hall of Fame Committee will prepare and hand out the ballot to be voted on at the Sunday Meeting of NCBA at the November In-Service Conference of NCMEA. Two minutes of speeches in support of each nominee may be given at that time. After the speeches, the members will mark the ballots.
5. Each member may vote for no more than three nominees.
6. After the ballots have been completed, the members of the committee will assist in the collection of the ballots.
7. The Chairman of the Committee, assisted by the committee will count the ballots and determine the three nominees with the highest number of votes. A maximum number of those nominees will be selected. It is possible that less than three nominees will be selected in a given year.
8. The NCBA Past President will notify award recipients so that family members and friends may attend the announcement and induction ceremony of the new inductees to the NCBA Hall of Fame. The induction ceremony will be conducted the same school year at the NC All-State Honors Band Concert.
9. Inductees into the NCBA Hall of Fame will have their names placed on individual engraved plates on the Hall of Fame master plaque. Each inductee will receive an individual personal plaque. Individual folios of each member will be on file with photos, autobiographical information, programs, memorabilia, etc.
10. A person may be re-nominated the following year (years).
11. There is no limit to how many nominees may appear on each year’s ballot.
