Charles & Isabel Hewitt Scholarship
Charles & Isabel Hewitt raised four children who graduated from Elyria Catholic (Cheryl ‘75, Gary ‘76, Sue
‘80, and Jeff ‘84). This scholarship was established by Gary Hewitt ‘76 and Shirley (Thompson) Hewitt ‘77 to
honor his parents and express gratitude for their teaching of faith, which is the greatest gift you can bestow on
anyone, and for providing a strong moral compass through their daily actions and endless love. This
scholarship honors Charles and Isabel Hewitt and will honor a student who prioritizes faith and family in their
daily lives and uses their education at Elyria Catholic to propagate these values.

Criteria:
  • Applicant must be a junior enrolled at Elyria Catholic and registered for the next academic year
  • Applicant must demonstrate growth and academic achievement over their freshman, sophomore and junior year.
  • Applicant must type an essay, 300-500 words, double spaced, describing how they prioritize faith and family in their life.
  • Applicant's family must have applied for the EdChoice Scholarship Program.
Award:
One student will receive $1000 (final award amount subject to change based on student need) applied directly to their tuition for the next academic year. 

Note:
This scholarship is awarded every other year (selected in odd years for the following school year/selected in 2023 for the 2023/2024 school year), opposite of the Bob and Carol Thompson Scholarship.
