Salem State University's
Center for Teaching Innovation is offering a "Teaching In The Age Of AI" workshop this August to help instructors prepare for their fall courses.
This hands-on workshop is an opportunity for SSU faculty to learn more about artificial intelligence (AI) tools like ChatGPT. In addition to an overview of chatbots and AI research tools like Google Bard, we will talk about emerging best practices used when assessing the impact of AI on teaching. Particular emphasis will be placed on AI course policies, assignment design, and assessment strategies.
We are offering this 90-minute workshop three times this August:
- Monday, August 14th, 11:00am-12:30pm (Viking Hall Meeting Room 123)
- Tuesday, August 22nd, 9:30am-11:00am (via Zoom)
- Tuesday, August 29th, 1:00pm-2:30pm (Viking Hall Meeting Room 123)
Registration is required and space is limited for the on-campus workshop sessions on 8/14 and 8/29 . Please register no later than the WEDNESDAY before your desired workshop date to allow time for email follow-up. If we are unable to accommodate your preference, we will let you know (and we will recommend that you sign up for the virtual workshop on 8/22). A direct registration link to the 8/22 Zoom session can also be found on the CTI's Upcoming Workshops page.
We will run additional AI workshops in September and throughout the fall semester.
The CTI team will contact you via email to confirm that you have a seat at your desired workshop, along with additional information relevant to the workshop session.
The CTI team is also available for one-on-one consults if you would like to talk more about the impact of AI on your courses. Please send any questions or comments to Jim McGrath (he/his pronouns): ctr_jmcgrath@salemstate.edu
