CSA Training Sign Off
To all Oakland University (“University”) campus security authorities:

You are receiving this communication because you have been designated by the University as a “campus security authority” pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (“Clery Act”). As a “campus security authority,” you must annually review the campus security authority training video.  Please review the training video immediately if you have not done so in the past year.

The Clery (“Act”) requires that the University:

1.  Annually compile and publish crime statistics which include, without limitation, information regarding certain crimes that have been reported to “campus security authorities”; and

2.  Timely report to the campus community certain crimes that have been reported to “campus security authorities” and are considered by the University to represent a threat to students and employees.

The entire campus community has been advised to report all crimes to the Oakland University Police Department (OUPD). However, as a “campus security authority,” the Clery Act requires you to immediately report to the Oakland University Police Department the following crimes that you observe, or that are reported to you, if they have taken place on the University’s campus, on the public property adjacent to the University’s campus or at an off-campus location where University activities are taking place:

- Murder & non-negligent manslaughter

 - Aggravated assault
 - Domestic Violence
 - Dating Violence
 - Stalking
- Arson
- Liquor, drug or weapons law violations

Please do not attempt to determine whether a crime actually took place or investigate the crime. For reporting purposes, assume that a hate crime is any crime involving a victim selected because of his or her actual or perceived race, gender, religion, nation origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, ethnicity, or disability. If you are in doubt as to whether a crime occurred or is reportable, please err on the side of reporting.

To report a crime please contact us, or report it online.
