Jakob Hwang '18 Memorial Scholarship
Jakob was a member of the Elyria Catholic High School Class of 2018 who lost his life to cancer shortly after graduation. While at EC, Jakob was a “legendary” goalie for the boys soccer team. He was most known for his infectious smile, positive attitude and complete trust and faith in God’s plan. This scholarship is to be awarded In Jakob’s Memory to a junior at Elyria Catholic High School who exhibits similar qualities. The $500 scholarship will be applied to his/her senior year tuition.

Criteria:
  • Must be a junior enrolled at Elyria Catholic High School
  • Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or greater
  • Must participate in at least one sport on a regular basis
  • Must complete an essay, 250 words or less, on the topic “How My Faith and Relationship with God has Helped Me Through a Difficult Time”
  • Applicant's family must have applied for the EdChoice Scholarship Program.
Award:
One students will receive $500 (final award amount subject to change based on student need) applied directly to their tuition for their senior school year.
