• Prompt inquiry, reflection, and discourse
• Differ from usual high school reading assignments
• Be available in paperback
• Lively/engaging reading (highly readable, not too long)

• Multiple themes for discussion (technologies, ethics, teamwork, workplace, unusual career paths)
• A bridge between students and faculty
• Amenability to a follow-up programs (author visit, out-of-class activities, workshops, etc.)
