Boston Bike Rack Suggestions
The Boston Transportation Department (BTD) serves bicyclists through the city by installing and repairing roughly 150 bike racks on city sidewalks each year. You can help us locate the best places for these racks by submitting a request through this form.
BTD will review your requests on a rolling basis. We prioritize racks in commercial corridors and in partnership with civic institutions such as libraries and community centers.
Many factors influence if and where a bike rack can be installed. We perform field checks to identify sites on the public right-of-way that don't interfere with pedestrian travel, are clear of other street furniture, and meet historic preservation guidelines. We cannot guarantee a rack at the exact location you request, nor provide specific date and time of installations.
