Global Organisation for Humanitarian Work Psychology: Membership Application

Thank you for your interest in becoming a member of the Global Organisation for Humanitarian Work Psychology!

About GOHWP

The aim of this organisation is to raise awareness of, and to establish a niche for, the many and diverse organisational, industrial, work and other psychologists from across the globe who are interfacing with deliberate and organized efforts to enhance human welfare - at both national and international levels. This group includes, but is not limited to, those who have a special interest in humanitarian aid, international development, poverty reduction, disaster relief, the empowerment of marginalized groups, and the International Labour Organization’s decent work agenda. This group aims to support and connect with students, professionals, and researchers from any discipline who are interested in humanitarian work psychology (HWP).

To become a member of GOHWP, please complete this membership form. Applications will be considered by the GOHWP Executive Board to ensure they meets our broad membership criteria (described below). Membership applications will be accepted on a rolling basis, and applications will be considered at least once a month. Applicants will be informed of the outcome of their application by e-mail as soon as possible.

Membership Criteria

Membership in our organisation is limited to those who are normally working or studying in the area of industrial/organisational/work psychology or a closely related area, or to those who are engaged or planning to engage in humanitarian work psychology and accredited, enrolled, or associated with an organisation/discipline to that end. Non-psychologists may be granted membership of the organisation if they are actively engaged in work which clearly falls within the scope of HWP. There are two types of membership in GOHWP:

Full membership is for professionals and academics in the field, as well as students studying at least at the postgraduate level (honours/masters or above). Student membership is for current undergraduate students and those with an undergraduate degree who have not yet begun their graduate work.

Membership Dues

Membership does not cost anything and there are no annual dues associated with membership in GOHWP.
