Service Learning Course Registration Form
Registering your course with our department helps us provide you and your students with support, and also helps us promote your class! We also ask that you submit a description of your service learning objective, learning outcomes or criteria.

Students will regularly stop by our office for support, and having this information as a point of reference is always helpful. All service learning assignments must be completed through our approved community partners or a campus project. The difference between service learning and volunteering is that this method of teaching and learning is always academic and includes a reflection component--our community becomes an extension of your teaching.

Students will have their service hours recorded in the Service Learning database in case they ever need proof of service hours. When students complete 15 hours of service at one organization or for one specific project, they qualify for a Certificate of Service Learning Participation. They may also look into applying for the Certificate of Proficiency for Volunteer Services.

We are available to do class presentations by appointment and we also host Service Learning Support Seminars where your students can receive support directly from our center.

If you have questions please email servicelearning@miracosta.edu. After submitting this form, you will receive a response in 48-72 hours.

Are your students able to select one-time service opportunities from our Volunteer Calendar or do you prefer they find an organization tailored just for your class? (A typical one-time project is 3-4 hours from the volunteer calendar):
