Deadline for proposals has been extended! Now you have until Friday, July 13 to submit your proposals to present at the annual OAACE conference!

The Ohio Association for Adult and Continuing Education (OAACE) is the largest and oldest professional adult education organization in the state of Ohio. The organization’s mission is to represent and serve the providers of adult education including teachers, administrators, coordinators, staff, volunteers, and instructional aides.

This year's conference will be held on September 20-21, 2018 in Westerville at the Renaissance Columbus Westerville-Polaris Hotel. In order to make this year’s event a success, we need practitioners from across the region to share their expertise and best practices in adult education.

This year we are proud to be hosting the Ohio Writer's Conference to honor the outstanding writing accomplishments of adults participating in adult education programs. We are looking forward to an expanded student presence for this popular and inspiring celebration.  

The OAACE Conference Committee carefully reviewed comments and suggestions from past conference attendees, as well as national trends related to WIOA legislation and the field of adult education to help guide the direction of presentations.

Specific topics of interest recently indicated by practitioners include free distance education software options, new high school equivalency test overviews, ESOL standards, de-escalating student behavior in the classroom, motivation of staff and students, teacher effectiveness and data-driven recruitment.

Presentation content strands are expected to include:

ABE/HSE
Assessment
Corrections
Curriculum & Instruction
English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL/ESL/ELL)
Instructional Technology
Support Staff/Accountability
WIOA/Career Pathways/IET

All proposals relevant to adult education will be considered, with priority given to those presentations aligned to the aforementioned content strands.

Proposal Guidelines:

1. Deadline extended! Proposals can now be submitted through July 13!
2. Please fill out the following form completely. If you have trouble submitting the form, please review the form for red boxes and error messages.
3. Information as it appears in this application will be used in the conference materials.
4. If selected, the lead presenter agrees to share presentations with session attendees, communicate with co-presenters, and coordinate/pay for any audio/visual equipment required beyond the screen, LCD projector, and flipchart provided.
5. ALL presenters must register for the conference.
6. Please submit ONE application per session proposed.
7. Proposals will be evaluated on the extent to which they
         •state clear objectives
         • engage participants through discussion or hands-on activities
         • provide information, strategies, or tools participants can use in their work
         • address the methods and topics as described above
         • are timely and relevant to adult literacy and education practitioners
