Mic2ExL is a workforce development project sponsored by Chicago State University and funded by the National Science Foundation.
Mic2ExL focuses on reskilling workers from underrepresented groups through a series of paid, hands-on learning activities to prepare for entry into the semiconductor and microelectronics workforce in the Greater Chicago region. The program consists of four phases:
- Phase 1 is 100 hours of classroom-based, hands-on learning to build foundational knowledge in semiconductor microelectronics.
- Phase 2 is 100 hours of knowledge application on a project at Argonne National Laboratory.
- Phase 3 is 50 hours of experiential activities at an employer in the local semiconductor and microelectronics industry.
- Phase 4 is participation in a job fair or other employment experience.
