There are 3 options you can choose from for EMTLI Compensation:

-Professional Development/Flex Credit Hours: Count EMTLI meeting hours toward your PD obligation. Complete an External Training request through the VRC. The process for making an external training request, and a link to the request form, can be found on the Professional Development External Training webpage.

-AFT Out-of-Classroom Rate: One lump sum payment received after successful completion of the EMTLI and creation of an e-portfolio. The IESE office will process your Special Project Authorization (SPA) form at the end of the institute in late May/early June. Faculty who have an EdD or a PhD often choose this option since they are already in the highest paying salary column on the salary schedule.

-UCSD Extension Credit: Earn 6 quarter units (equal to 4 semester units) toward salary advancement and move across the salary schedule. The IESE office will send a list of faculty names to UCSD Extension after successful completion of the EMTLI and creation of an e-portfolio. See below for more information on how to apply for salary advancement with Human Resources (HR).Faculty who do not yet have an EdD or a PhD often choose this option to move toward a higher salary column on the salary schedule.
