King Family Scholarship

The King Family Scholarship was established by Mr. Jim King, a Lorain Catholic High School
graduate, and his family and awards $10,000 to an Elyria Catholic graduate to be paid over four
years to the recipient's post secondary education institution. Preference is given to applicants who
are the first generation in their family to attend college. Deadline to apply is April 17.

Criteria:

  • Applicants must be a graduating senior at Elyria Catholic High School with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher through their first semester of senior year
  • Applicants must have demonstrated financial need and have completed FACTS for at least one year of attendance at Elyria Catholic High School
  • Applicants must provide proof of acceptance to a post secondary education institution
  • Applicant must provide an essay which answers the prompt, “Tell us about a time when you either failed at an endeavor or fell short of expectations. What did you learn from this experience?” 
  • Preference will be given to applicants who represent the first generation in their family to attend college.
Applications:
  • Available beginning February 1st.
  • Due back to the Elyria Catholic Philanthropy & Engagement Office by April 17.
Awards:
  • Selected recipients will receive $10,000 to be paid in four or eight installments direct from Elyria Catholic High School to their post secondary education institution
  • Recipient will be recognized after the Elyria Catholic High School Baccalaureate Mass
