Central Wyoming College 2023-2024 Commencement Speaker Application
Central Wyoming College is excited to welcome students to compete for the honor of serving as the 2023-2024 Commencement Speaker!  Two students will be selected to represent their graduating class in presenting a commencement speech in their division ceremony. The students selected will each also receive an award in the amount of $250. Below you will find details on the competition procedures and requirements for participation. Competition Procedures:
1. Complete and submit application by Wednesday, March 1, 2024.
2. Students submitting applications will be pre-screened to confirm their eligibility for participation in the contest.
3. Selection committee will narrow down the applicants to a select group of finalists.
4. Finalists will present a short sample speech of approximately three (3) minutes representative of their commencement speech to the selection committee around the middle of March (to be scheduled with finalists - will not interfere with the Spring Break Holiday).
5. The winner will be announced early April, 2024.
6.  The committee will select two commencement speakers.  One from the Arts & Sciences Division (A&S), and one from the Business, Technical, Health and Safety Division (BTHS).  If you are not sure which division your program is assigned to, please  contact the registrar, Connie Nyberg at cnyberg@cwc.edu, or check with your advisor or success coach.
7. Students selected to be the 2023-2024 CWC Commencement Speaker must comply with all of the below listed applicant requirements.
8. Students selected should prepare a 7-10 minute speech to present to the 2023-2024 graduating class at  commencement (Presentation should NOT include major visual aids).
9. Selected Commencement Speakers will deliver their keynote address at the 2023-2024 Central Wyoming College Commencement Ceremony on Friday, May 10, 2024.  Ceremonies are scheduled for 4:30PM (A&S Division), and 7PM (BTHS Division).

Applicant Requirements:
1. Graduating in the 2023-2024 Academic Year.
2. Minimum of 3.0 GPA.
3. In good standing with the College.
4. Must complete graduation application process.
5. Must attend the Central Wyoming College Commencement Ceremony on Friday, May 10, 2024, at either 4:30PM or 7PM as per relevant division.
6. Must agree to have your name, photo, and a write-up published to announce you as the keynote speaker.
7. Must agree that all photos of graduation taken by Central Wyoming College Marketing Department are property of the College and can be used for publication.
8. If selected as a commencement speaker, the graduate may schedule an appointment with Maygen Cassity (307-855-2053), Communications Instructor, for a speech review at least three weeks prior to graduation presentation for additional instruction if requested by the speaker.
9. The final script must be approved by the committee.
10. Student will be paid the $250 award fee once graduation has been finalized and the student’s degree is posted. The  student must complete a contract with the Registrar for payment.
