PREP-KC's partnership in collaboration with Evergy, Kansas City Public Schools, and Metropolitan Community College (MCC) is excited to offer students an opportunity to earn Market Value Assets (MVAs) in dual credit hours and industry-recognized credentials (IRC) in the energy industry. MVAs provide a more seamless entry into college and a career upon graduating from high school. One component of this unique partnership prepares applicants to sit for the national OSHA General Industry exam, complete Energy Industry Fundamentals coursework, and become Pole Climbing Certified. Upon successful completion of the program and the exams, the graduate is eligible to apply for MCC's full Utility Line Worker Program. Students will also explore career opportunities in solar power energy, photovoltaics and more.
Students from high schools within Kansas City Public Schools are eligible to apply. The programs will begin Summer 2021 with full coursework starting Fall 2021 with a two-year commitment. To be eligible for the opportunity, please fill out this application by Friday April 30, 2021. If you have questions, please email Keva Gorman at
kgorman@prepkc.org.
Submission of an application does not guarantee acceptance into the MVA opportunity. We reserve the right to interview applicants and withhold acceptance until all required pre-requisite documents are received and approved for attendance. Preference for acceptance will be given to students who have not already received a credential through PREP-KC.
