The Asian American Journalists Association is establishing a news mentorship, which will attempt to pair students and beginning journalists with veteran members primarily in the print, online, television, radio and photography industries in hopes of developing the future generation of journalists. The mentorship is a one-year commitment, in which the student and mentor will connect
regularly. Mentorships are not guaranteed.
Eligibility:
1) Applicant must be an AAJA member in good standing
2) Applicants must be already in the journalism field or seriously considering a career in journalism. Recent graduates or journalists in their first journalism job may also apply.
Selection criteria:
1) Candidates will be selected based on demonstrated need for an AAJA mentor as well as their commitment to making the mentor/mentee relationship a success.
2) Students with successful applications have completed (at a minimum) one year of work at their student publication and/or had one professional internship experience.
