外籍妻子向北京警方投诉警员殴打她的丈夫

加拿大使馆建议该国某公民向北京警方质询。她的丈夫已经被羁押39天，据称遭到警方殴打。目前人已经批捕，很可能将面临起诉和判刑。

凯琳·派特森，加拿大公民，他是中国艺术家吴玉仁的妻子。近日他向加国驻华使馆寻求帮助。吴在被拘留32天后正式批捕，但他坚称之前遭到警方的殴打。

“加拿大使馆政治处一位官员建议我跟朝阳公安部门进行交涉，甚至建议我直接找北京市公安的最高领导，”派特森周四告诉记者。

她表示现在正试图联系朝阳公安局寻求直接对话。

如果对话没有实质性结果，根据吴的律师的说法，在40天到两个月之后，吴将按程序被起诉，走上法庭。

帕特森周二去去了一趟朝阳看守所。她的丈夫从6月1日起就被羁押在这里。她希望见到自己的丈夫。他从5月31日起就没有见到过吴了。吴和他的朋友杨立才在这一天到了酒仙桥派出所报案，交涉一起和798物业的财物纠纷（先前报道详见6月5日环球时报英文版）。

吴的朋友，798白糖罐工作室主人杨立才被行政拘留10天，6月11日释放。

杨在走出拘留所后的当天写了一份公开信，声称他目击5名警员在一个小房间殴打了吴玉仁，并且听见了吴的惨叫。

派特森并没有见到他的丈夫。

她从酒仙桥派出所取回了一个包。里面有吴的个人物品，包括一张吴在6月1日写给她的纸条，就是这天吴被警方从派出所转到了朝阳看守所。

警方一直没有通知派特森关于吴的拘押状态。当吴的手机回到他妻子手中的时候，里面的照片，信息等都已经被删除（注：后被fake工作室的技术人员部分恢复，内容见相关文档）。

对于环球时报的采访，酒仙桥派出所（事发当晚值班）副所长刘大为拒绝回答。

帕特森和他们5岁的女儿被告知在吴被正式起诉，庭审和判决前，都无法见面，这个时间会持续8到10个月。

The Canadian embassy has urged the wife of arrested artist Wu Yuren to talk to the police about his 39 days of detention, possible beating and upcoming trial.

Karen Patterson, a Canadian citizen and wife of the Beijing-based artist turned to the embassy for advice after Wu was detained, then allegedly beaten before being arrested 32 days later for "obstructing and attacking a police officer."

"A political officer from the Canadian embassy suggested I seek talks with the Chaoyang police, or even the highest officers at the Beijing public se-curity bureau," Patterson said Thursday.

She said she is in the process of getting in touch with the Chaoyang branch.

If no solution is reached through talks, Wu will stand trial between 40 days and two months from now, according to Wu's lawyer.

Patterson on Tuesday visited the Chaoyang Detention Center where Wu has been held since June 1 in the hope of meeting her husband.

She hadn't seen him since May 31 when Wu and friend Yang Licai had gone to the Jiuxianqiao police station to report on a dispute with the manage-ment of the 798 Art District (See Metro Beijing report on July 5).

Owner of the Sugar Jar CD music shop in 798, Yang was detained for 10 days and released on June 11.

He issued an open letter on the day he was released, in which he stated he had heard Wu being beaten by five police in a solitary cell.

Patterson didn't get to see her husband.

She instead received a bag of his personal belongings including a note he had written with her contact information on June 1, the day he was transferred from Jiuxianqiao police station to Chaoyang Detention Center.

Police did not contact Patterson to inform her of her husband's detention. Wu's cellphone was returned with all photos and notes deleted.

Liu Dawei, deputy director of Jiuxianqiao police station, refused to comment.

Patterson and 5-year-old daughter Hannah were told they have no right to visit Wu until he is formally charged, tried and sentenced, a process that could take eight to 10 months.
