Check OUT Procedures

  1. Click Check OUT on the left side of the Accent screen.
  2. Scan the student’s ID card.  If helping a staff member, type in the patron’s last name and click Search.
  3. If a message appears indicating the patron is Blocked, click OK in order to continue to the patron’s account.
  4. We do not charge late fees.  If a Fine less than $12.00 appears, click on the Fine to Forgive it.  If the fine is $12.00 or more, the patron may owe a lost/damaged book.  Refer him/her to an adult.
  5. If the account shows an Overdue item, find out what it is and when it was due.  If it was due within the last week, ask the patron to return it asap and continue with checkout.  If it was due more than a week before, tell the patron that it must be returned before s/he can check out another book.  S/he can place the book s/he wants on hold for one day in order to clear the account. (Teachers can have overdue items for up to one month.)
  6. Scan the book.  Make sure the correct title shows up on the screen.
  7. Place a Date Due stick inside the book.
  8. Smile and thank the patron.
