Age Group and Senior Committee(s) Meeting

AGENDA

    1.    Review minutes of 3/29/2012 and approve.  

    2.    Overview of agenda for 6/6/2012

    3.    Review decisions / votes for LSC Champ host sites

    ⁃    2013 Regional meets

                ⁃    2013 13 & O meet

                    ⁃    SEA@WSAC

    4.    2012 - 2013 Champ Meets Time Standards Report - Jake

    ⁃    Jake talks about the underpinnings of the thinking for the time standards for the next period.

            ⁃    overall champ meets are too big

            ⁃    decrease size to 85% of current meet

            ⁃    which would be equivalent to about current time standard + 30 power points

            ⁃    Dave Westfahl asks what's the idea?  reduce athlete count, number of swims  session length

            ⁃    Drew proposes (passes) whichever is faster current time standard +30 power points or 545 total power points for 13 & O meet and for the 12 & U meets?

            ⁃    Dave Westfahl proposes formulating and adopting time standards in June of the previous year by these committees and publish in summer state meet heat sheets (Bob White's idea)

    5.    proposed 12 & U format - Brent - passes

            ⁃    split the 12 & U meet into 10 & U and 11/12 sessions - discussion

            ⁃    group likes it although cautions breaking the team concept some.

            ⁃    Brent shows event order which might need a tweak or two for 2013 scy

    6.    What the committee recommends regarding the policy, is make it the athlete may not   enter until fine is paid - do not hold the team accountable.  (May 16, 2012 meeting, the Rules Committee recommended an addition to Policy 2.7.4.F:   "A team with an owing a proof of time penalty or an unattached swimmer owing a proof of time penalty may not enter an LSC sanctioned or approved Meet until the proof of time is paid.  The Meet Director shall inform the LSC Registration/Membership Coordinator who informs the team or unattached swimmer that the fine must be paid or the team or unattached swimmer is unable to compete in a sanctioned or approved Meet."The purpose of the addition is providing enforcement for failure to pay the proof of time penalty.  However, the Committee asked that I obtain your comments about the addition to Policy 2.7.4.F.)  

    7.    Review / report WI/IA Senior Boys Camp

    ⁃    still working and age group camp in september
