meet

An interesting story in itself.  At our house in San Diego, a few workers had to come by during the day to fix the sprinklers in the backyard.  They assured me they had no problem with dogs and that our chocolate lab Karma being in the backyard while they were working would not be a problem.  It turns out they opened the gate and left it open and made no effort to keep her in the yard.  She went to the park we walk to when we pay fetch.

That evening the neighbor across the street told us what he witnessed while at home during the day.  His son made an effort to get Karma but was unsuccessful.  Luckily a family at the park offered Karma food and she jumped in their car and they called our phone number on her tag.  As thanks we wanted to get small gifts for both the family that found her and our neighbors.  We got a basket of chocolates for the family and wanted to get a bottle of wine for the family across the street, but in fear the son was too young, we also got them a basket of chocolates.  When we finally met the son, it turns out he was 35 and would have much preferred the bottle of wine over the chocolates.  We made some good friends through that experience and it was sad to move away from them up to the Bay Area.
