Trip to Dallas
Excursion Itinerary for Saturday, July 10
Overview
We will meet in front of Santa Fe Square at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. We will take the bus to Mockingbird Station. You will have all day to explore Dallas using the DART train or walking. We will meet for dinner at Mockingbird Station at 6:30 p.m. You must return to Mockingbird Station by 7:30 p.m.

You will arrive at Mockingbird Station. The area around Mockingbird Station has built up quite a bit since the DART light rail station opened in 2001. Downtown Dallas is eighteen minutes away on the DART light rail, opening up a world of possibilities for working, dining, and entertainment. Here are some suggestions:
Nature/Outdoors
- DART train: Mockingbird north east (Blue Line) to White Rock Station
- Dallas World Aquarium (Rainforest Exhibit): The largest indoors simulated rainforest in the country. A little expensive, but absolutely amazing!

- Dallas Zoo: The award-winning Dallas Zoo is complete with an African Safari!
- DART train: Mockingbird south to Dallas Zoo Station
Shopping
- Northpark Mall: Northpark is one of the first malls in the United States. It’s a beautiful shopping complex with upscale stores, galleries, cinemas, and restaurants.

- Mockingbird Station is a trendy shopping complex with an art cinema and an Irish pup. Don’t miss Urban Outfitters!

Recreation/Arts
- Angelika Film Center: With its eight screens and cafe and bar (where you can take your food and drink into the theaters) is a great place for lovers of independent film. The Angelika and Spike Global Grill offer a "dinner and a movie" special that is quite affordable. Glencoe Park is a quarter mile away and has tennis courts, baseball diamonds, and plenty of green space.

- Mockingbird Station Restaurants: Several restaurants have set up in Mockingbird Station, including Cafe Express, Cold Stone Creamery, Gelato Paradiso, Margarita Ranch, Reikyu Sushi and Bar, Rockfish Seafood Grill, Spike Global Grill, Starbucks, Trinity Hall Irish Pub, and Urban Taco. Mockingbird Station is also near the popular nightspots on Greenville Avenue.
- Historic West End District: The West End Marketplace has many restaurants, bars, and shops to explore on foot.

- Kroger: Just a quarter mile from the station is a Kroger Signature grocery store at the corner of Mockingbird Lane and Greenville Avenue.
Other Necessities
- Post Office: A post office is at 5606 Yale Boulevard, a half-mile away from the station and within easy walking distance.
- ATMs/Banks: An ATM is located in the Mockingbird Station Office Tower and a mile away at Mockingbird Lane and Abrams Road, there is a cluster of banks, including Washington Mutual, Chase, Wells Fargo, and Bank of America.
