What the critics have to say…
Recommended Best New Albums June 20 - NPR
“Supported by arrangements that ingeniously blend Beach Boys pomp, girl group harmonies, Rundgren melodicism, and Athens jangle, his lyrics pose questions rather than present answers, an approach that leaves space for listeners to find a little bit of themselves somewhere in there.”
- Stephen Deusner
“On this nuanced album, Johnston emerges as a next-gen throwback in the grand tradition of Big Star, Matthew Sweet and Fountains Of Wayne.”
- Uncut Magazine
“There’s an unpretentious quality to Elijah Johnston’s subjects that makes his songs deeply accessible.”
- Glide
"...Johnston has steadily developed a steadfast songwriting voice and an adroit talent for pop melodicism." — Under the Radar
“He's a craftsman and a tinkerer all the way—a guy equally swayed by alt-rock's arena-sized choruses and the refined singer/songwriter emoting of the 1990s and 2000s.” — Magnet Magazine
“It’s comfortable, it’s catchy, it’s the kind of music you’ll want to experience in your own home, with the vinyl spinning on your turntable.”
- Big Takeover
