What is a community college?

Community colleges offer two-year programs leading to the Associate of Arts (AA) or Associate of Science (AS) degree. These colleges also have technical and vocational programs with close links to secondary/high schools, community groups, and employers in the local community. You can find large community colleges with multiple campuses in an urban/suburban setting or small campuses in a rural setting.

Undergraduate students studying at community colleges can earn academic credit towards a bachelor’s degree. Earning academic credit at a community college, which is usually less expensive, can help lower the overall cost of a bachelor’s degree. Community colleges may also have a more flexible admissions process.

Where is Central Wyoming College?

Central Wyoming College is a two-year college serving Fremont, Hot Springs, and Teton Counties. Our main campus is located in Riverton Wyoming, and we have outreach centers in Lander, Jackson, and Dubois, each designed to meet the needs of the community it serves. Currently, the international students will only allow studying at the Main Campus and Lander (approved by SEVP). The main campus is located at Riverton. It is a city in Fremont County, Wyoming, United States. It is both the largest city in the county and the largest within the historical boundaries of the Wind River Indian Reservation. The city's population was 9,310 at the 2000 census. The city is an incorporated entity of the state of Wyoming, on land ceded from the reservation in 1906, a situation that often makes it subject to jurisdictional claims by the nearby Eastern Shoshone and Northern Arapaho tribes.

How does the Central Wyoming College define an international student?

Any student who is not a U.S. citizen or a permanent resident of the United States is considered an international student. International students usually need an F-1 or M-1 visa to study at Central Wyoming College.
