- Effect of Personalized Accelerated Pacing on Quality of Life, Physical Activity, and Atrial Fibrillation in Patients With Preclinical and Overt Heart Failure With Preserved Ejection Fraction: The myPACE Randomized Clinical Trial https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/36723919/
Other Noteworthy Items
- Above publication: Randomized placebo controlled clinical trial of accelerated cardiac pacing (myPACE) in HFpEF. When compared to usual care this treatment approach resulted in marked improvements in quality of life, NT-pro BNP levels, patient activity and reduced the burden of atrial fibrillation. The clinical safety profile is favorable to suggest that clinical outcomes can be improved. This is the first targeted treatment approach in HFpEF and will overturn the "lower heart rate is better paradigm" in HFpEF that resulted in an overprescription of beta-blockers. At prescription rates of about 75-80% beta-blockers are the most commonly used medication class in HFpEF without any evidence that supports their use.
